Working Towards a Brighter Future
At Cannabis For Children we’re promoting initiatives to serve the people who need them most. Please join us by supporting our efforts to make a measurable difference in the lives of others. We should not create any division of humanity as we gain an understanding of cannabis treatments.
SUGGESTIONS FOR CREATING A LEAST RESTRICTIVE ENVIRONMENT-
A least restrictive environment is an area that is comfortable and entertaining based on safety needs. Every individual is different. And like all people, their likes and needs may change. It is important to identify what makes the area feel good. Sensitivity may be increased with treatments, therefor all aspects of the structured area must be considered. This may include: lighting, air flow, temperature, humidity and various spatial views.
A least restrictive environment may be located inside, outside or both. It is important to determine the best materials used in the area. For example, fabrics, wood, plastic, concrete, glass, rubber, etc. Items in the area may include, artwork, books, plants, pillows, etc. Special attention should be given to textures, sizes, patterns, shapes, shades of colors, placement, etc. Consideration of sounds and scents may also be applicable, perhaps addition of a water feature or CD player for music. A heating pad or cold pack may be beneficial in the area to help relax. Back/neck massager or a foot soaker. The uses of media is optional in the area but not recommended; as media is mentally distracting by nature.
Consideration for a "low key" environment verses a "high key" environment should be made based on need. Low key environments may include: neutral colored fabrics, soft pillows, scented oils, soft music, dim lights, etc. High key environments may include: things that spin, slide, roll, etc. Items with buttons, knobs, switches, levers. Things that shine; are colorful and shimmer or glitter. Items to count and sort. Safe items to throw like velcro darts, balls, etc. Musical instruments or favorite hobbies and crafts. Singing is a great way to encourage expression and movement. Everyone is a unique individual and should have their needs recognized as such. No one is a standard. All treatments should be designed and provided in the least restricted environment possible.
If needed, 30 minutes of exercise or assisted stretching should be given daily to assist in maintaining positive flexibility. Walking is the best way to get some quality exercise without any special equipment or location needed. All physical activities must be based on an individual's abilities, needs and preferences. Each person is an individual and should be treated that way. Check with your family physician before starting a physical routine.
Various learning activities can be included at home and at outside locations. Some of these may include: Locate Similar/Opposite Objects- Discover how things are "alike" or "different". Discover Why. Locate Colors-Choose a color then discover items that contain it or locate various shades of one color. Locate Shapes-Choose a shape then discover items that are shaped that way or locate various sizes of a shape. Locate Comparisons-Discover differences by comparing items as soft/hard, warm/cold, smooth/rough, etc. Locate What Is Special About Different Countries-Discover foods, music, clothing, activities etc. Locate Seasonal Discoveries- Find activities and things that are only found in the current season. There are so many ways to learn. An ocean of opportunities. Look up and down; all around us are chances to discover our world.
It is important to humanity to feel empowered to "Make A Difference" in the world; for themselves and others. Everyone should have the opportunity to do so regardless of their ability or disability. It is at the core of our Cannabis For Children Organization.
Make A Difference-Discover ways to help others and do them (example: donate clothing)
Make A Difference-Discover ways to help yourself while helping others (example: recycling for money)
Make A Difference-Spend time at a pet shelter, nursing facility or hospital as a volunteer. (example: donate time)
There are so many ways to be creatively involved within the community. Ask at the library, churches or at local community groups and schools.

We are watching social media and witnessing many criminal acts regarding children and cannabis. Our advocacy organization will work to shut down any media used to highlight children being mistreated with cannabis. Our children are not toys or lab mice to experiment on. There must be guidelines and standards in place to protect and educate as we pursue cannabis related medicine. We must demand our doctors and researchers disclose factual information about the healing properties, as well as, potential risks.
